He is past president (1986-2000) of American Farm Bureau, which I belong to. He thinks we ought to do away with subsidies, like New Zealand.
I am working on the book, "The Omnivore's Dilemma," by Michael Pollan. The reasons Dean makes for doing away with subsidies sound a lot different than author, Michael Pollan's explanations. Dean leaves out Cargill. He says it has something to do with competetiveness in the world market. I haven't figured it out yet, but I will be following this story.
